Christian Author Writer Bobby the Banker wanted to give his girlfriend, Brenda the Baker, the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.

“Chocolates are so…temporary,” said Bobby. “Brenda is so special that I want to give her something she will remember for long time.”

Valentine’s Day was only two days away, and Bobby still had not decided what to give Brenda. As the couple were sharing a milkshake in a fast food restaurant, Bobby asked Brenda, “What would you like to have for Valentine’s Day?”

“All I really want is to share a nice romantic evening in the restaurant where we met,” Brenda said.

Bobby was more puzzled than ever about a Valentine’s Day gift for Brenda when, suddenly, he had a bright idea. “That’s it!,” he exclaimed to himself. “Since Brenda is a baker, I’ll dazzle her with my culinary skills! I’ll bake her the perfect Valentine’s Day cake!”

Bobby was so excited about his project that he called his boss, Bank President Bobbi Brendi, to request the next day off to have plenty of time to bake the cake. “Sure, you’ve been working very hard, so you can have the day off, but you don’t have to take a vacation day,” President Brendi said. “I’m giving you the day as an extra day off.”

“Thanks, I sure appreciate it,” said Bobby. “I enjoy my job, and I always want my work to please the Lord.”

Bobby spent the whole day baking Brenda’s Valentine’s Day cake. He whistled while he worked, and by the end of the day he had created the most beautiful Valentine’s Day cake he had ever seen.

Bobby and Brenda planned to have dinner at about 7 p.m. Bobby picked Brenda up at about 6:30 p.m. and they drove to the restaurant.

Bobby feasted on a steak and baked potato. Brenda enjoyed grilled chicken, with mashed potatoes smothered with a special garlic sauce. After finishing their complimentary coffee,
Bobby said to Brenda, “I have something special for you, Sweetheart.”

Bobby asked the waiter to bring the cake, which he had beautifully wrapped. The cake had been kept in the restaurant’s kitchen until just the right moment.

“I made this just for you,” Bobby said.

Brenda opened the box, her eyes lit up and she exclaimed, “Oh, Bobby, this is the best Valentine’s Day present ever! And the design on the frosting is really cool. It says, ‘A Million Bucks for You on Valentine’s Day.’

“I figured that’s the only way I could ever give you a million dollars!,” Bobby laughed.

“And because you are a banker I mistakenly thought that you were rolling in the dough!,” Brenda chuckled.
