Rays of Son - Guardian Angel Protects Couple In Traffic Accidents

Christian Author Writer Horace loved to drive through the countryside to see “God’s beautiful creation” up close and personal.

Every Sunday after church, Horace and his wife, Hilda Mae, went on a leisurely, scenic drive through the hills and valleys. They loved watching the deer, squirrels, rabbits, and other members of God’s handiwork.

Every Sunday, Horace and Hilda were involved in a minor traffic mishap. News of Horace’s weekly mishaps were soon reported in the news section of his hometown newspaper, which began printing details of his accidents. Horace was also cited to appear in front of the local judge who would determine whether he would be allowed to continue to drive.

The day before Horace was scheduled to appear in court, he and Hilda Mae were involved in their weekly traffic accident. The driver in the vehicle ahead of Horace and Hilda Mae made a sudden U-turn in the middle of the road. Horace lost control of his vehicle, which left the road and landed in the center of a small pond.

The following day, Horace appeared before Judge Harrie Hankee to answer the charges related to all of his accidents. “How do you plead to all of these charges?,” asked the judge.

“I plead innocent, Your Honor,” replied Horace. “I didn’t do any of these things on purpose. They were all accidents.”

The Judge called Hilda Mae to the witness stand to testify. “Horace really is a good driver, Your Honor,” she said. “Like he says, he didn’t do anything wrong on purpose. They were all accidents.”

Judge Harrie had a reputation of being both fair and firm. And he was a judge who insisted that all aspects of a case be heard.

“Does anyone else here have any information related to this case?,” Judge Harrie asked.

“If it please the Court, I would like to speak, Your Honor,” said a distinguished-looking gentleman, who sported a handlebar mustache.

Upon being given permission by the judge, Michael the Angel approached the bench. “Who are you?,” inquired the Judge.

“I am Michael the Angel,” said the visitor from heaven. “My assignment is to guard Horace and Hilda Mae and see that they are not injured in any of these accidents.”

“You have drawn quite an assignment,” said the Judge. “How can I make your job a bit easier?”

“Your honor, I am here to ask that you suspend Horace’s driver’s license for two Sundays,” Michael said.

“Why are you making this request?,” asked the Judge.

“Your Honor, after working on this assignment for a year, I need a two-week vacation!,” grinned Michael.
