Christian AuthorI'm a pastor's wife from northeast Iowa. My husband and I have four grown children; Rachel, John, Beka and Libby Lois. Paul and I have been honored to serve the congregation of the Gospel Lighthouse Church and Academy in Floyd, Iowa, for the past twenty-six years. We also are the promoters of the two-day, all-day Floyd Gospel Sing, which is an annual yearly event. Every September over thirty gospel groups from across the United States come and minister through testimony and song from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Over 1,800 gospel music fans attend this inspirational event. Our little town only has a population of 360. So, excitement is in the air when the Floyd Gospel Sing comes to town!

I'm ministry-minded to a fault. So, everything I write seems to have an inspirational "bent" or some ministry "twist" to it. I love to write for children. Their little souls are like wet cement that can be so easily molded and shaped.

Years ago I wrote a Christmas play, "Glimpses of Heaven," for the children and youth of our congregation. When the children of our church performed it, I knew it was something special and wanted to share it with other congregations. I sent it to Abingdon Press and it was accepted. I was so excited when it was published. They went on to publish another book, "More Speeches and Recitations for Young Children." I have received e-mails and phone calls from children's workers across America sharing with me how blessed they were to see their children minister through drama for the Lord.

I try to write for the small church because they might not have the financial resources or the manpower to put on a grand production. I've learned that children have a way of stealing the show with or without a lot of props.

Another children's ministry resource I co-wrote with our assistant pastor's wife, Lucy Robbins. It is entitled, "Bible Story Skits for Children" and was published by Eldridge Publishing. It geared toward early elementary children.

Ronnie McWilliams and I were born just three days apart. He came first on December 9, 1952, and I followed on December 12 – practically "womb mates" we often joked. Our mothers shared the same hospital room after our births. We attended the same schools, went to the same church and played on the same basketball team. In May of 1971, we graduated from the same high school – an exciting year bec ... Read Christian Article

Grandma Eleanor was the stabilizing force in my life for as long as I can remember. Her wisdom and common sense echoed in the depths of my soul, long after she passed away. I would always find comfort in the Scriptures and consolation in the old hymns about Heaven. But one day as ... Read Christian Article

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15 KJV I stared out the big bay window of our old farm house anxiously waiting for my father to come home. When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7 NIV "Get down!" hollered the young foot soldier. "Mom, come quick! You've got to see this." John, our son, called. I scurried down the narrow hallway to the front door to see what all the commotion was about.
