Christian Author Writer Matthew 22:29 (KJV)
Jesus answered and said unto them, (the Sadducees) Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

The allegorical story of Jewel’s Worth is written on behalf of all those who have received
Jesus as Savior but still struggle with issues of self esteem and worthiness, due to not knowing God’s Word, and the power it contains.

“What no mirror?” Pride chided Jewel.

Jewel loathed mirrors! Seeing her reflection, stirred within her the haunting voices that had plagued her since childhood....

.....“We wish you were never born.” “You deserve every bad thing that happens to you.” “Who do you think is ever going to love you?” “You’ll never amount to anything.” “You are useless, ugly, and stupid!”

Jewel had only truly experienced unconditional love once in her life, the day Jesus saved her.

After salvation Jewel remained a babe in Christ, never delving into the Word of God, thus, never discovering her birthright as an overcomer in Christ.

Frequent visits from Fear, Pride, Torment and Anxiety continued to hold her captive.

Sometimes Self Pity, Suicidal Thoughts and Depression even dropped in.

Listening for years to their demeaning voices had resulted in Jewel believing everything they said.

She had turned into a recluse, though occasionally she would venture outside to tend her garden.

When digging up weeds one day, she found a metal box with a Bible and letter inside.

The beginning of the letter was written in the form of a poem:
I know you like to garden
So I put this message here
You see I want so very, much
To free you from your fears

Remember when I saved you
Your salvation was brand new
You vowed to always serve me
But in my Word you never grew

The letter continued on to say:
I’ve tried to get your attention, yet you chose to ignore, and disregard me. Your thoughts are always fixed on your imperfections.

The day I saved you I looked forward with great anticipation and joy, to see you grow and mature in my Word, and ultimately be conformed to my image (Ephesians 4:13).

Sadly, you are still a babe. Feeding on milk when you should be ready for strong meat. ( Hebrews 5:13-14).
By allowing the voices of people to dictate and characterize who you are, you have caused yourself to be ineffective.

Everything you need to live a victorious life, in Me, is found in my love letter to you. However, Ye must study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15)

Jewel, are you ready to flourish in your walk of faith, blossoming in my grace, immersed in my knowledge?

Holding the letter tightly in one hand and the Bible in the other Jewel bowed her head and prayed, ...“Yes Lord Jesus, I am ready.”

How about us, are we ready to explore and expand our relationship, and strengthen our bond with Christ?

Prayer: Lord, may we take the time, interest, and study needed in your Word, so our minds can be transformed and renewed. In Christ Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
