Christian Author Writer Mt:18:4: Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Mt:23:12: And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Jms:4:6: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

1Pt:5:5: Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Prov:8:13: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Prov:11:2: When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Prov:13:10: Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Prov:14:3: In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

(All those who expect to be rescued from the great tribulations and taken up need to understand that in these last day or we could say in these wicked times, pride is the biggest troublemaker and humility is the only thing that is going to spare Christians from succumbing, in some way, to it.

We all know that pride caused Lucifer to think his beauty came from himself and not from God. Pride caused him to become convinced that he could be God. But do you know that when you stay angry at someone or when you argue with a loved one, pride is usually involved. If you go over the circumstances of your latest tiff, I think you will see that pride caused you to be so angry with the person for whatever they did--How dare they do that to me? I’ll show so and so who they’re dealing with. I’ll teach you not to mess with me. . . .

It was pride that made you spend what you couldn’t afford on that new dress, suit, etc. It is pride that causes you to think that you should be the center of attention in someone else’s life. It is pride at the center of a lot of your emotional pain. Pride is the reason it’s so hard to forgive. Pride is the reason one doesn’t want to yield to the other party. Even when they are tempted to choose peace over contention, pride hollers out in pain and stands in the way of peace.

Often pride is very, very subtle. Most people who are controlled by it, in some areas of their life, don’t even know they have it. Usually the person doesn’t display a spirit of pride overall. They’re just a prisoner to it in a few areas.

The prevalent spirit of Americans today is one of pride. This spirit causes people to think they can choose whether they will obey God or do what they want to do. Even many of those who know He really did author the Bible and send His Son, think they can decide whether they will listen to God or disregard His precepts. People think they can run their own life, thank you kindly, all by themselves--without God’s help.

Pride that runs ramparts in America drives people to do all sorts of things to keep up with the Jones. On and on the list goes. I brought this matter of pride up because in these last days it will be humility that keeps you from going down.

Humility knows and understands that no one can make it on their own. No one can be their own god. No one has all the answers. The truth is that God created mankind to be His children just the same as parents choose to have children and for the same reason--to love them, take care of them, teach them, instruct them, and watch over them with the intent to be there for them and help them to grow up right and be happy productive citizens, so God intended to be there for us. Anyone who goes through life without Him will certainly need a crutch--alcohol, drugs, money, things, sex partners, etc. because God did not create us to be independent of outside influences.

Secondly, if you do not choose God who is love and is out for your good, then inevitably you will make choices that make Satan your god, because there are only two spiritual entities--the good Spirit and the enemy of the good Spirit. Jn:8 If you don’t walk in the God kind of love, you will be a pawn in the devil’s hand. He’ll use you to hurt yourself and many others.

Every selfish choice hurts someone. Every unselfish love choice blesses someone.
